  Gary Chamberlain is a retired ministerial member of the Iowa Conference of the United Methodist Church.  He served churches in Maine and Iowa for nearly twenty years and was assistant professor of Biblical Studies at the University of Dubuque Theological Seminary for four years.  He also worked in financial services for more than fifteen years; he retired in 2008 from a position as business manager at First United Methodist Church in Champaign IL.  He holds a B.A. in English from Bates College, a M.Div. from Bangor Theological Seminary, and a Ph.D. in Biblical Studies from Boston University.  He is the author of three books and several academic papers; he is currently working on a book exploring how Christianity can relate to modern finance.  He is married to the artist Jess Beyler and has two grown children.
